Access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene is the most basic human need for health and well-being. Billions of people will lack access to these basic services in 2030 unless progress quadruples. Demand for water is rising owing to rapid population growth, urbanization and increasing water needs from agriculture, industry, and energy sectors. Decades of misuse, poor management, overextraction of groundwater and contamination of freshwater supplies have exacerbated water stress. In addition, countries are facing growing challenges linked to degraded water-related ecosystems, water scarcity caused by climate change, underinvestment in water and sanitation and insufficient cooperation on transboundary waters. To reach universal access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene by 2030, the current rates of progress would need to increase fourfold. Achieving these targets would save 829,000 people annually, who die from diseases directly attributable to unsafe water, inadequate sanitation and poor hygiene practices. Yet 2.2 billion people worldwide suffer from thirst or fall ill from contaminated water. Our mission is to provide these people with an existential livelihood through clean drinking water. Sustainable Development Goal 2 is about creating a world free of hunger by 2030. In 2020, between 720 million and 811 million persons worldwide were suffering from hunger, roughly 161 million more than in 2019. Also in 2020, a staggering 2.4 billion people, or above 30 per cent of the world’s population, were moderately or severely food-insecure, lacking regular access to adequate food. The figure increased by nearly 320 million people in just one year. Globally, 149.2 million children under 5 years of age, or 22.0 per cent, were suffering from stunting (low height for their age) in 2020, a decrease from 24.4 per cent in 2015. The number of people going hungry and suffering from food insecurity had been gradually rising between 2014 and the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The COVID-19 crisis has pushed those rising rates even higher and has also exacerbated all forms of malnutrition, particularly in children. Since 2010, January has been nationally recognized as National Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Human trafficking exists in many forms, including forced labor, sex trafficking, forced marriage, criminal exploitation, and domestic servitude, and is a deep and pervasive issue all over the world. According to the U.S. Department of State, there are estimated to be 28 million adults and children who are subject to human trafficking around the globe. The following organizations are committed to the fight to end human trafficking through education, prevention, advocacy and policy while also providing various forms of support to human trafficking survivors.

Direction Digital is a project focused in digital inclusion primarily for girls in Brazil. It enables continuing development of new school teachers in educational digital technologies, community orientation and resources to families in remote areas to have access to education digitally, specially after COVID-19. Funds will provide resources deployed to families with girls from 04 to 14 years old, food and school supplies for the most vulnerable students and develop monitors as village leaders.

Thousands of people across East Africa are at high risk due to recent conflict, inflation, hunger and climate change. Communities in countries including; Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia are facing severe drought leading to food and water shortages. Over 23 million people are facing severe shortages of food and water. Did you know? Malaria is a disease found in hundreds of countries worldwide, and over 3 billion people are at risk. Preventing the childhood Malaria Death Project is an initiative to protect children, particularly those under five, from the devastating impact of malaria in the Democratic Republic of Congo. For these vulnerable children, their ongoing fight against malaria does not only have broader implications for their long-term development, and it is a matter of life or death. This project provides families with malaria prevention education, lifesaving medicines, and effective and scientifically proven vector control technologies such as insecticide-treated mosquito nets. The goal is to protect 200,000 fewer children. Five years against malaria-related deaths and disabilities through a combination of interventions: in addition to universal coverage net bed distributions, activities include training of community health workers. This training improves knowledge and practices for malaria prevention and treatment and partnerships with radio stations to disseminate messages on malaria prevention and control practices in DRC. The Rohingya are a Muslim minority community that has lived for centuries in Myanmar, where they have long suffered persecution. In August 2017, having become the targets of a military-led campaign of brutal violence, over 700,000 Rohingya fled Myanmar’s Rakhine state into Bangladesh, joining hundreds of thousands more who had fled Myanmar during a previous exodus. The refugees settled in Cox’s Bazar, where hillsides were quickly cleared of trees and vegetation to accommodate the massive influx of traumatized families and children. At risk is defined as being below the poverty level and paying more than 50% of household income on rent. It also includes households with a member who has a disability, a person living alone, and those who are not in the labor force. The Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and, in doing so, eliminated federal abortion protections that existed for nearly 50 years. Roe prohibited states from outlawing abortion before viability, around 24 weeks into pregnancy, and after that time in cases when the pregnant person’s life or health was in danger. The Guttmacher Institute, a research firm that tracks abortion policy and supports reproductive rights, has estimated that 27 states are likely to ban abortion once Roe is gone. Such restrictions will force those seeking an abortion to travel across state lines to receive care. We view the right to abortion as a fundamental human right, essential for equality, health, and dignity. Restrictions on abortion access and funding are discriminatory, and these restrictions especially burden low-income patients.
